Dartford is the principal town in the Borough of Dartford, Kent, England. It lies 16 miles (26 km) east south-east of central London. The town lies on the border of Kent and Greater London, bordering the London Borough of Bexley. It also borders the Borough of Thurrock, Essex, via the Dartford Crossing of the River Thames.
Dartford has a vibrant town centre boasting multiply local shopping centres such as Orchard, Prospect place and Priory shopping centre. Places of interest in Dartford include the Orchard Theatre and Blue Water shopping centre.
Dartford has a number of shopping areas within the town centre, including the main high street, The Priory indoor shopping centre and Prospect Place Retail Park.
All the big high-street names can be found in Dartford, including WH Smith, Sainsbury’s, Next, Asda Living, Costa Coffee, Matalan, M&S Food, TK Maxx, B&Q Warehouse.
With Plans to build a giant Tesco, the town Centre landscape is set to improve. Just a short drive away from Dartford is Bluewater – one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe.
Homes in the west of the town are prized for their proximity to Dartford Grammar School for Girls and boys’ school Dartford Grammar. The latter was founded in 1576, and on the site is community performing arts venue The Mick Jagger Centre, named after the former pupil.
The town has benefited from many new developments including the award-winning Ingress Park, Waterstone Park, Braeburn Park in neighbouring Crayford and an exciting new development in Stone Lodge, which will provide accommodation in a listed building.
